Philly emcee Purple Dialect’s lead single “Leaves,” wrote itself. His parents, addicted to drugs, broke and in need of a change, moved him and his 6 brothers and sisters from the south up to Philly when he was young. Leaves is the story of him watching his mother cope with trying to balance her drug addiction with the financial burdens of a big family over the course of his childhood. It’s hard to describe this joint as poignant given Dialect’s raw east coast hip hop pedigree, but he definitely opens up in his own unique way.
