R&B newcomer, Philipino Monroe recently released his debut EP, May Is Mine. The project features 12 tracks and production from the powerhouse, Chopsqaud DJ.
Philipino shares intimate stories of his personal life throughout the EP from surviving gang violence and a poverty-stricken upbringing to having no one believe in his dreams yet still believing in himself.
After losing both parents at a young age, Philipino turned to music as a positive way to express his emotions. He’d always recognized that he possessed a beautiful voice since a young child and is now ready to be heard.
“My music and ideology/inspiration comes a lot from realists such as Tupac Shakur. One thing he said in an interview that resonates with me and my career is that he said his Momma use to tell him if you can’t find something to live for you best find somethin’ to die for. He also said that reality is wrong meanwhile dreams are for real. That’s something that has inspired me in the way I make music and the way I treat people”
Philipino owes the world his story and his music is a reminder that you can be anything that you want to be in life with hard work and effort.
