As we go about our day to day lives it is all too easy to be caught up in the stress without taking time for ourselves. We all know the situation; we work ourselves to the bone hoping for a better future without really living in the present and this can damage our health and mental state.

Today we want to talk about some tension busting techniques that will help you feel healthier and more relaxed. It is so important for us to rid ourselves of bodily and emotion tension, and here are just a few of the things you can do this week to help you relax and reset.

Massage your scalp

One of the first ways that you can get rid of pent up tension in your body is massaging your scalp. Not only will this provide great headache relief for you after a tough day at work – but it will also help your mind to shut down and refresh. By spreading your fingers and working in circular motions, you will be able to reach those tension points and allow the muscles in your head to relax. One of the unexpected benefits of doing this is that you will also be able to promote hair growth and end up with thicker and longer hair.

Practice yoga

Yoga is a practice that is done all over the world by people who want to connect their body and mind. Yoga is a great way to release some tension in your body because by performing the different poses you will lengthen and stretch out your muscles and tendons. It means that when you practice yoga frequently your body will become more flexible and you are less likely to suffer from tension in your muscles at all. It also helps you to relax the mind and focus in on yourself for a little while and often that is all you need.

Get some extra sleep

As much as you think you are getting enough sleep every night to keep your body ticking over – you probably aren’t. You need at least 8 hours of sleep every night in order to stay fit and healthy, and a lot of the tension you feel behind your eyes or in your body is likely due to lack of sleep. Try going to bed a little earlier this evening and you will be more likely to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle a new day.

Take a long soak

A simple way to instantly relax your body is to run yourself a hot bath and set up a book or a laptop to watch your favourite show. Baths are great for working through the tension in your muscles and adding Epsom salts will target all of those tense areas to keep them feeling relaxed.

Try a few of these ideas this week to see what a difference you can make to the tension and stress in your body.
