Education

One of the most important tools that you can have in your pocket is your education. Trust us, you won’t get far without one. If you are lucky, you might get somewhere but nowhere near your full potential. Education and the quest for knowledge is one of those things that can put you off going further in life. Why? Because it can be hard work. The act of going to school and attending a class is not a great idea for some people, mainly because they have terrible memories of their younger school days. But adult education is nothing like being in school. You can even study online with distance learning courses.

Set up yourself

Depending on the type of business that you want to have, you will need to set up some type of business platform. Learning what the ecommerce website development cost is for your new business should be one of your first stops before you do anything. Setting up your own shop on a digital platform can be fun and easy. And, it can be achieved with a little education using their guides. You don’t need a webs developer to set one up for you but you can use one if you want. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty and learn how to do this yourself. Not only will you save yourself some money but you will learn something along the way.

Financial support

Getting financial support can be a tough one, especially for businesses. If you are looking for financial support, one of the best places you can look is with your local council. There are many government agencies that offer grants and one-off payments to help businesses get off the ground. There are also charities that support young women launching their businesses, they can even help you write your business plan to apply for funding elsewhere. However, one of the best places to start with funding is with yourself. This might mean putting your savings into the business and shopping around for the best deals on equipment, but it is possible to get started on a shoestring budget. You might get lucky and have your family offer to help you, or you could try crowdfunding to see if anyone is interested in backing your product.

Invest in the right tools and software

For those that regularly need to buy supplies, having a digital buyer assistant is an important investment. Using a discount contractor supply software is a great option when business funds might be limited.

Even bigger businesses can benefit from streamlining their buying process and saving money with the help of a digital buying platform.

Use your social media

If there is one place that can be tapped into for amazing results, it is social media. Social media is one of the best places to spread the word about what you are doing. Everyone loves to support their friends and wants to be part of the success story, so let them. It might be annoying if your family and friends are in the middle of your business, wanting you to share all of the details, but it is very sweet as well. The other option is that they ignore you and you are left feeling unsupported and with no help. Embrace them getting their wallets out and supporting your business in the early days. Encourage them to like and share your business posts. They will get bored after a while but hopefully, your business will be well established by then.

Have a backup plan

When it comes to business, you should have a plan and a backup plan. Making the first plan can be hard enough but with some thought and grit, you can create a solid plan that is capable of being successful. If you are a worrywart, you should have a backup plan too. The great thing about having a backup plan is that you can roll it out after a few years and use it with your existing business. Backup plans are great because they allow you a feeling of security. And, even though your business plan might be solid, we never know what way the economy will turn, or if another pandemic will rip through the world, so it always helps to have something up your sleeve.

Use your talents

Do you have any talents that you can fall back on? Some people forget that you should lead with your strengths, and sometimes those strengths have nothing to do with business. This is the junction where talent and knowledge cross paths and a business can appear. You might be surprised at the type of talents that people will enjoy, especially if you can use them on social media to promote your business. There are authors who can juggle, made a brief video of them juggling and posted it on TikTok. In the hours that followed, they made more sales than they had made in months. Never ditch your talents and always use them in some way to help your business, even if it means juggling on social media.

There is a beauty tax

We don’t like to admit this but it is clear that women do not do well in business because they are smart, part of it is to do with how they look. This beauty tax is the talk of the female businesswomen world at the minute as they try to work out how we can remove this barrier. There are many people who are talented and could end with amazing companies, but their looks go against them. Yes, we are not being silly about this. How we look and the effort that we put into our appearance has a direct effect on how we are treated. This unfortunately goes into the business world too. Until we can work out how to make this disappear and women are judged on their talents and not their looks, you might have to learn how to contour so that you don’t get left behind.

Don’t be afraid to fail

We know we said at the beginning that we wanted to avoid failure, and we stand by this statement. However, we have to make peace with the fact that we might fail. There are many people out there who have great ideas that never see the light of day because people are afraid to follow their dreams in case they fail. Of course, you don’t want to fail, you want to win at what you are doing. But don’t be disappointed if you fail. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, learn from any mistakes that you have made and get moving forward again. Many people make mistakes but you only fail if you decide that you are giving up after the first hurdle.

Starting out as a female entrepreneur is a wonderful journey and it can be hard at times. But, with some hard work, a vision, and maybe a little bit of mascara, you can take over the world with your new business empire and inspire a lot of young women to do the same along the way. We hope that this post has inspired you to take those first steps to run a successful business.
