We could all love to have flawless skin. When our skin looks good, we feel more confident and that enables us to live our best life with more ease. It’s frustrating then, when your skin starts to break out.
Once you’re an adult, you think the acne days are behind you, but this is, unfortunately, not always the case. Adult acne is really common, and often, it is caused by the most surprising things, including the following:
Hair products
If you use hairsprays, serums, and various other lotions and potions for your tresses, then it could be that they are causing you to get acne on your face.
Any dermatologist will tell you that, if these products get sprayed on your face by accident, they can change the PH of your skin and this can cause acne to develop. The good news is, that as long as you thoroughly wash your face after applying hair products, chances are you can avoid this common cause of adult acne.
Eating a fat-free diet
Many people think that eating a fat-free diet is a good way to lose weight and get healthy, but actually, our body needs fat to thrive – it just needs good fats. If you remove all of the fats from your diet, then your skin does not get all of the essential fatty acids it needs to stay plump and healthy and this could lead to more zits in your life.
Eat plenty of fats from the likes of avocados, nuts, and oily fish to avoid this particular skin problem trigger.
Talking on the phone
Okay, so talking on the phone now and again is likely to be fine, but if you always have your cell glued to the side of your head, then you might have noticed that you get a lot more zits than you used to.
This is because your cell phone can get really dirty and when you put it to your head, much o that bacteria can transfer to your e skin where it can clog up your pores and cause infection.
Using your phone less, or using hands-free if you do, and cleaning it with a wet wipe regularly, are both things that can help you with this particular issue.
Not using sunscreen
We all know that not using sunscreen can cause cancer and wrinkles, but did you know it can also cause adult acne too? When you do not wear sunscreen, this can cause your skin to dry out and your skin might start increasing more oil to try and counteract this drying effect. As you will probably know, excessive levels of oil can cause acne, so whatever else you do, be sure to always wear the highest SPF sunscreen you can find even if you aren’t sure it will be a sunny day out.
Now you know a bit more about some of the unusual things that can cause adult acne, hopefully, you can take better care of your skin and avoid future breakouts. Good luck!
