How are You Spending Your Weekends?
For most people Monday – Friday consists of working 9-5 at a job or in some area of profession. We all know this can get quite stressful and monotonous. Many of us go to work on Monday and LIVE for Friday to come. Fridays are one step closer to a day of peace and freedom away from the burdens of work. We live for the weekends, but how are spending our time? It took me getting into my mid 30’s to realize, I enjoy staying busy and experiencing new things. I tend to use my weekend time to spend with family, work on my business, travel or try something new. I challenge you to try something new every weekend. If you follow me on Instagram and/or Facebook (and you totally should be following me), I recently added a post with ideas of what you can do on the weekends.
Redecorate a room in your home to give you inspiration.
Sometimes as women, we need to escape life. Redecorating a room by making a few minor, inexpensive adjustments can provide you with the space and the quiet time that you need to regroup. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to make these changes. Visit your local thrift store and find furniture that can be sanded and sprayed to look like new. Visit your local dollar tree and pick up new picture frames and hang new pictures. Find new pens and what nots to place on a desk or on a bookshelf. The goal is to choose things that speak to the inner YOU. Find out what inspires you and make you happy. I always suggest a great smelling candle or room fragrance.
Have a picnic with loved ones in your backyard
How cool is this right? The weather has been amazing these past few days in South Carolina. Great weather always makes me want to be outside. Instead of an indoor lunch, grab a blanket, make few sandwiches, fruit and cheese and your favorite, wine, water, or soft drink and head outside to enjoy nature and with your family. This is a great time to bond with loved ones and discuss interests and ideas. Make it fun, bring a radio and dance, or play a board game. Get creative when finding ways to spend time with loved ones.
Discover a new love for tea
TEA TIME!!!!! I never knew I would grow so fond of tea. I have been a coffee drinker for as long as I can remember. I never started my day off without a good cup of Joe. As of late, (I don’t know if its because I’ve gotten older), but I have reached for a cup of hot tea instead of the coffee pot. I have realized there are so many benefits to drinking tea and the variety….OMG…..there are ALL KINDS OF TEA OUT THERE! Each tea has a specific purpose for your body. My favorite lately has been Jasmine tea and green ginger tea. It’s so soothing and comforting. Speaking of comforting, let’s not forget about the soothing and relaxing effects of chamomile tea. Although it is not considered an herbal tea, it is said to have several health benefits for the body. And did I mention the taste?!!! It tastes AH-MAY-ZING!
Start a Journal
Hands down this is the most inexpensive therapy you can find. I know it may seem weird at first writing (and almost talking to yourself), but trust me, it really helps you let go of present day, and move on to tomorrow. One of my favorite things to do is at the end of each year, I read my journal cover to cover. You truly begin to realize how far you have come and how good God has been to you. It’s sometimes an emotional roller coaster just turning the page. But I always start my new year off knowing, I WILL overcome!
I hope you found these ideas helpful. Leave a comment below. I like to know if you enjoy these posts and what you actually do on the weekends. Have a great and productive week!
