Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN’ Album Earns Pulitzer Prize

Kendrick Lamar just made history, as the first rapper to ever win a Pultizer prize for his music. Kendrick won for his album “DAMN” which was released last April.

As soon as Kendrick hit the scene, many took notice to him for his emotionally, and politically charged lyrics, added to that his unique way of just knowing how to make a good, solid record.

While the Pulitzer board has handed out awards to musicians in the past — such as Bob Dylan, Hank Williams and Duke Ellington — they’ve never given one to a hip-hop artist. So congrats to Kendrick, well deserved.
