It sounds good, doesn’t it? We work hard for most of our lives with the idea that as we get older, we will be able to relax and enjoy the rest of our lives. But to get older, enjoy it, and get some peace, there are some things that you can do now.

Debt
Not only can debt be stressful and hard to deal with while you are trying to take care of a family and are young, but it doesn’t go away easily. Handling your debts now will mean that you will have more spare money in the future and won’t have to worry about not being able to pay something. Paying debts down or off is going to give you better financial security in the future.
Care
While we like to think that we will be active and healthy all the way to 100 and beyond, that isn’t the case for many people. Instead, it is important to think about what type of care you might like if you should need it. Not everyone ages the same, and in an ideal situation, the people around you will know what you would want.
Instead of leaving it to be guessed and potentially not be what you want, using a life care planner will mean you get exactly what you want.
Home
One of the things you’ll need to consider is if you will want to age in place or if you are comfortable being moved to a facility if you need it. Aging in place will mean there need to be some adjustments made to the building – and it is a good idea to price these up and put money aside for them. Alternatively, you can start making some of these changes early and reduce the cost for a later date.
And because we never know what will happen, it is a good idea to have a chat with family and friends about the what if.
Living Will & PoA
A living will make sure that if anything unexpected happens, your wishes are outlined and can be followed by the people around you. You can express what you want to do, how you want to be treated, who can act on behalf of you, and more.
Power of Attorney means that people you trust can act on behalf of you for medical decisions and financial decisions. This should be set up well in advance of any suspected cognitive impairments.
Active
One of the things that many people who are aging will talk about is how they can’t get around like they used to. And for many, this is true; our bodies do slow down. Staying as active as you can until you can’t is one of the best ways to stay healthy for longer and have a more active retirement and aging.
Having a peaceful old age is a lot about planning and preparing for the what-ifs that life throws at us. Here are some more tips for making the most of getting older: Post: Tips For Healthy Aging | SheBloggin.
