Post: Marketing Mistakes To Avoid

Marketing Mistakes To Avoid

When you run a business, you have to market it – that’s unavoidable. Imagine if you just started everything up and waited for people to come to you; you’ll probably be waiting a very long time if you did that, and in the meantime, your competition would get way ahead of you. So obviously marketing is important, but it’s also important to be aware of the mistakes people make in marketing and ensure you avoid them yourself. With that in mind, keep reading to find out what some of these mistakes are so you can get past them and be successful.

Only Focusing On New Customers

One of the biggest mistakes businesses can make is only focusing on getting new customers through their marketing, and while that’s happening, they’re completely ignoring their existing ones – the ones who are currently keeping the business going.

It’s true that attracting new customers is vital if you want to grow, it’s just as important to keep your old customers happy – they’re the ones who are most likely to make repeat purchases and tell others about how great you are, so you don’t want to jeopardize that. The best thing to do is to work out a customer retention plan that includes loyalty points, personalized communication, and, of course, amazing customer service. Do that as well as targeting new customers, and all should be well.

Not Having A Recognizable Logo

If you want people to know who you are and spot you in the midst of all the advertising they’re going to be surrounded by, you’re going to need a recognizable logo; it’s a huge part of your brand identity and it’s vital to get it right. This is basically how you can quickly tell people all about your business, which is why the design isn’t something you can rush.

The logo needs to be simple, memorable, and it needs to showcase your business’s brand and how it works, and you need to use it across all your marketing materials, from your website to your social media sites to the custom vinyl stickers you use on your products. A strong, recognizable logo can do a lot of good when it comes to building your business.

Not Using Social Media

In this day and age, why would you not use social media to its full advantage when it comes to marketing? You might assume it’s not all that important, or perhaps you don’t think you have the time to do it, but the truth is that social media might be the most important part of marketing of all, and not being a part of it means you’re missing out on finding people to buy from you.

You’ll need to fix this mistake by working out which social media platforms your target market use and then creating a presence there using engaging content, interacting with your followers, and showcasing your products and services. Although it’s going to take a while to build up a decent following, if you’re consistent with your posting and use analytics to help you work out when to do it, you’ll find people do follow you, and that’s priceless.
