One of the biggest things that causes people to worry is their health. And, while all of the worrying is also bad for you, what’s worse is putting off vital checkups. Typically, moms push back appointments for themselves to most. They don’t have time, or they are worried that something might actually be wrong.
So, let’s take a look at what people (and maybe you) need to stop putting off.
Smears
A smear test takes a few minutes to complete, and you will get results pretty rapidly. And while it is a little invasive, it is a test that you could get on your lunch break, and it might save your life.
While the age of smear tests being needed is generally stated to be between 25 and 64, any time that you think something is ‘off’ down there, you should head to the doctor.
For those who have never had sex, they are at a reduced risk of cervix cancer – but no one’s risk is 0%.
Then, a small amount of discomfort can make a huge impact.

Breast Exams
You can do most of the hard work at home; either you, a partner, or a friend can help check your breasts for lumps, bumps, and anything that doesn’t feel right. Here is a guide to checking your breasts at home: Breast Self-Exam: How To Check for Breast Lumps and Changes.
Breasts look and feel different during different times in life and even daily while you are in the menstrual cycle. This is why it is even more important to make sure you know what is normal for you.
Dental
A small dot turns into a huge cavity, toothache, sore jaw, or earache, and it can end up being serious, too. Many people put off going to the dentist because it isn’t the most natural thing to have someone looking into your mouth.
That said, if you go regularly, you are less likely to need extreme dental work – which is usually what causes all of the fear.
If you do have dental anxiety, it is a good idea to talk to your dentist so they know and can plan your checkups and any work accordingly.
Hearing & Eyes
If you find yourself saying, ‘Turn that up please’ or ‘I think I need glasses’ and not taking action, then you certainly should be booking an eye test or a hearing test. The thing with both of these is that they deteriorate over time, and many people ignore the early signs.
Both hearing and eyesight deteriorate for millions of people as they get older, but there can be other causes for either type of loss. Getting a baseline test ahead of your 60s for your hearing can help with later tests; a regular check is wise for eyesight.
Either of these tests don’t take long and aren’t painful, but they can improve your quality of life – even if you don’t think you need them, you never know what a professional test might uncover.
