Chicago native Real Ne$$ brings hard truths with mixtape and single
CHICAGO, IL – Real Ne$$, is a Chicago-born and bred musician and actor whose sound and style is making people all throughout the Midwest sit up and pay attention.
Growing up in the suburbs of Aurora, Illinois – just outside of Chicago – he started rapping for fun with friends and family when he was young. He loved it so much that he began recording music on his Xbox console using one of the karaoke video games. As he grew older and more people heard him perform, he was introduced to some serious emcees around town, who were also impressed with his freestyles and flows. They inspired him to take the music game seriously. He adopted the stage name Real Ne$$ and hasn’t looked back since.
His success began to take off fairly soon after college. He’s been able to open for Ace Hood, Twista and King Louie. And as an actor, he had appeared in feature roles on the TV shows
“Chicago PD,” “Empire,” “Death Wish,” and “Easy,” as well as other independent films around Chicago.
His most recent endeavor is a mixtape called “The Realist,” which showcases 10 songs that talk about a variety of struggles and experiences from his life. There are songs about partying and having a good time, as well as songs about the ins-and-outs of daily life in Chicago.
The first single from the album is a song called “Striving.” Like its title implies, the song is about striving for something better, even when people throw doubts or skepticism your way.
“Even though there are people hating on me who don’t want to see me shine, I’m going to continue to strive to be something better,” Real Ne$$ said. “This song talks about pushing through my own personal struggles, living in a tough environment and doing what I have to do to pay those bills.”
Real Ne$$ said the song has more of a mellow vibe – perfect for riding around in a car with friends or chilling at home. He also said it’s a good song to display his unique sound and style – one that features both singing and rapping.
“I can also do some more aggressive-sounding vocals,” he said. “I’m just trying to be unique and stand out from the rest of the crowd. I want people to have a good time listening to my music, so I’m always going to bring something they can relate to. This is especially true of this song, because it talks about the struggles you go through in life and the different ways you feel when times are hard.”
Most of his music is available to stream on ReverbNation or Soundcloud. “The Realist” mixtape is also available on Datpiff.
