Cartier’Ray embodies swag in both lifestyle and musicality
CLEVELAND, OH – If you were to ever meet Ray Hallman randomly on the streets, there’s one thing you can be sure of: he’ll be wearing Cartier glasses. He loves them, and he loves the way he looks in them. But more than that, they represent a lifestyle and a sense of swag that he wants to represent to the world. It’s the whole reason he adopted the stage name Cartier’Ray, and it’s the vibe people get when they listen to his music.
“I wear them and look good in them and always have them on because I look good in them,” he said. “I grab a lot of attention from wearing them. People make comments, and I go with it because it fits my lifestyle. It’s what I do. And everything about me – from my style to my music – is about being real. Everything I’m speaking to my fans I want them to know it’s real life. It’s what I’m going through or may have been through. But even through those things, I’m still living my life today. No matter what’s going on or has gone on, I’m gonna dress up and go out. I’m going to put my Cartiers on and make sure my outfit is immaculate. I’m gonna make sure I’m dripping and looking nice.”
That lifestyle and attitude toward life is explored more deeply over six songs on his forthcoming EP called “Drip Print.” It’s a project that he said will introduce him to the world and show off his different styles of music while also leaving his “print” on the industry. It’s the beginning of something big, he said, and he can’t wait for people to get a sense of the type of entertainment he can bring to the world.
“I’ve always had an ear for music and I know how to make beats,” he said. “I started playing instruments when I was just a kid, and all my life – literally every day – I have listened to music. I’ve noticed how music can affect your mood, no matter what it is. And that’s what I want my music to be about – creating vibes that can change feelings. You could be down and need something uplifting – I have a song for that. You might be on top of the world – I have a song for you to enjoy that feeling. If you’re looking for a relationship or going through relationship problems – I have songs for that. I have all kinds of vibes, and I don’t want to just be considered just a rapper or just a singer. I’m an artist and I can create more than just one field of work that can satisfy a wide range of people.”
More importantly, however, Cartier’Ray shared, “Everything I started on this journey came when I had my son. He’s my biggest motivator and he doesn’t even know it yet. I love my son!” The debut single from the EP is a song called “Again” which was produced by Metro Boomin. It’s a song that tells the story of meeting an ex after years apart and feeling that flame of attraction spring up immediately. The song explores what may happen if you try things again, and the journey that can happen in such a relationship. “Again” is available on all platforms such as Apple, Tidal, Spotify and YouTube.
Cartier’Ray said this EP is just the beginning of his career as a musician and that fans can expect more from him in the coming months.
