Losing weight is never easy and what works for one person will not necessarily work for another, which is why, if you’ve been working hard to lose weight with poor results, you should not simply give up!

Instead of throwing in the towel and accepting a higher weight than you are comfortable with, why not try something different instead? Below are some weight loss tricks, that can and do work, that you may not have tried before. Give them a go and see how you do.

Keep a weight loss diary

You might not think that keeping a detailed log of every single thing that passes your lips is likely to help you lose weight, but for many people, that’s exactly what it does. 

How does it work? Well, for one thing, it makes you truly aware of what you are putting into your mouth, and for a lot of people, this is an eye-opening experience to say the least! Once you know exactly what you are eating and when you can identify your patterns and start making positive changes that will soon show up on the scale.

Take a selfie each day

You might not think that you’re looking your best right no0w, so taking daily selfies of your body may not sound too appealing, but I think I can change your mind/ How? By pointing out that, in a recent study, individuals who took daily selfies while trying to lose weight were far more likely to do so than their non-photo-taking peers. Not only that, over 70 percent of them reached their target weight. This is most likely down to the fact that, when you take a daily photo, it is easier to spot those small changes to your physique that can spur you on to keep working hard at your goals.

Make veggies the main event

When you’re plating up your meals, chances are you place your protein in the most prominent place, because for most of us it’s the tastiest part of the meal. However, if you want to try a neat trick to help you lose weight, start making the veggies the main event. Place them in prime position and arrange them so they look as appealing as possible, placing any protein and carbs where you would usually pout your sides. By doing this, you can gently encourage yourself to eat your veggies first, and because they are so healthy and filling, doing so will help you to, hopefully, consume fewer calories overall at each meal.

Try a detox

Sometimes, you’re body struggle to lose weight because it is too busy dealing with all of the toxins that you have pumped into it over the years. That’s why it may be worth trying a detox, perhaps using Detox cleanse drops, to really clean out your system and give your body the chance to do its thing and help you drop that excess weight once and for all.

Practice self-care

A lot of people who are struggling to lose weight end up beating themselves up over the fact. All this does is to make them feel like failures, which is more likely o trigger off a period of emotional eating, which will only make the problem worse. If this resonates with you, it’s time to change your thinking and start looking after yourself a bit better.

Instead of talking about yourself negatively, find the positive, and make time for yourself. When you are happy, relaxed, and taking care of yourself, you are fast more likely to naturally stop overeating and maintain your weight loss regime.

Stores spend thousands of dollars on working out the psychology of food shopping and where to place food to entice you the most. So, for many people, it can be difficult to resist tasty treats when they shop in-store. By shopping online, you can ensure that you are not tempted because you can create a grocery list and stick to it without being confronted by lots of delicious cakes, candies, and chips.

Use a weight-loss mantra

This one isn’t for everybody, but if you are struggling to lose weight because of the mental side of things, something that may help you is using a weight-loss mantra like “I am healthier and happier every day” or “I do not let food control me” which you can chant whenever you feel like throwing in the towel or when your motivation needs a boost. It may sound a little out there, but so many people have successfully used mantras to lose weight in the past, and it’s completely free, so you have nothing to lose (except the excess weight) by giving it a try.

Batch cook

If you struggle to lose weight because you don’t always have the time to cook a healthy meal., which leads to you eating less than optimum takeout or snack foods, one simple thing you can do to help your weight loss along is to take a couple of hours out of the week to batch cook lots of healthy soups, casseroles, and snacks. That way, even if you have very little time, you can simply ping something good in the microwave instead of resorting to the kind of food that has caused you to gain weight in the first place.

Use essential oils

Some essential oils, like clove and mandarin, have been shown to reduce cravings in some people. So, why not try smelling them whenever the urge to eat something you really shouldn’t hits you. It may sound weird, but essential oils can be purchased cheaply, so it has to be worth a try. Just make sure you buy therapeutic grade essential oils from a  trusted source, and follow the directions for using them carefully!

Losing weight takes time and effort, but if you switch it up by trying some of these more unusual tricks, chances are you will reach your weight loss goals, and look and feel better than ever, much sooner than you think!
